Highlights from my trip to Paris

I recently took a short trip to Paris, and honestly, the city lives up to the hype—again. You don’t have to be overly romantic or artsy to appreciate it. Paris is just one of those places where good food, good views, and good vibes come naturally. Here’s how my quick getaway went down.
First stop: coffee. No matter where you go in Paris, you’ll find a café that knows exactly what they’re doing. I grabbed a strong café crème and a warm croissant and just sat outside watching people start their day. It’s simple, but it hits differently here.
Paris mornings are calm, everyone minds their own business, and it’s the perfect way to ease into the day.
I didn’t bother making a strict itinerary. Paris is a walkable city, and half the fun is taking random turns and seeing where you end up. I walked through Le Marais, checked out some small shops, and—of course—grabbed another pastry I didn’t need but absolutely wanted.
At some point I passed the Louvre. I didn’t go inside this time, but even just seeing the glass pyramid and the huge courtyard is impressive. You really get the sense of how massive and historic the city is.
Yeah, it’s a tourist spot. Yeah, you’ve seen it in a million pictures. But seeing the Eiffel Tower in person, especially at sunset, is worth it every time. The sky turns gold, people are hanging out on the grass, and the whole place feels like a chill summer evening—even in the colder months.
When it lights up and starts sparkling, it actually does catch you off guard. It’s one of those classic “yep, I’m really in Paris” moments.
Dinner was at a traditional bistro—tiny tables, close seating, and food that hits the spot. I ordered French onion soup and steak-frites, because when in Paris, why not? Everything tasted great, and the waiter had that typical Paris confidence that somehow makes the whole experience more authentic.
The next day I wandered through a local market. Fresh bread, cheese everywhere, fruit that looks perfect… It’s basically impossible not to buy something. With my bag full of snacks, I walked along the Seine and took in the views. Bridges, boats, street vendors—it’s simple, but that’s the charm.
Before heading home, I made a quick stop in Montmartre. The streets are steep, the views are unreal, and it feels like stepping into old Paris. I watched artists sketch tourists and grabbed one last espresso before calling it a trip.
Paris isn’t just a romantic city for couples—it’s a legitimately great destination for anyone. Good food, incredible architecture, and easy wandering make it perfect for a short break. Even in 48 hours, you get plenty of memorable moments without trying too hard.
If you get the chance, go. And bring comfortable shoes—you’ll walk more than you think.
